    Ten Highlighted Works of Undergraduate Education and Teaching of Guangxi University in 2024

    In 2024, the university thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Education Conference. It adhered to benchmarking against first-class standards and striving for excellence, deepened comprehensive education reform, and continuously improved the quality of undergraduate talent training.

    I. New Progress in Curriculum Ideological and Political Construction

    Took the lead in establishing the "Guangxi University Alliance for Curriculum Ideological and Political Education" to promote exchanges and cooperation on curriculum ideological and political education among universities in Guangxi.

    II. New Measures for Emerging Agricultural Sciences Development

    Took the lead in establishing the "China-ASEAN Alliance for Integration of Industry and Education in Agriculture and Forestry Education" to advance in-depth integration and sharing of agricultural and forestry education resources and industrial resources among China and ASEAN countries.

    III. Substantive Progress in Textbook Construction

    Won 9 Excellent Textbooks awards in Guangxi's general undergraduate universities, including 3 first prizes and 6 second prizes. The total number of awards increased by 4 compared with the previous round.

    IV. Accelerated Cultivation of Top Talents in Basic Disciplines

    Seven bases, including the "Mathematics Top Talent Training Base", were selected as autonomous region-level top talent training bases for basic disciplines.

    V. New Approaches to Diversified Talent Training

    Constructed a three-level minor talent training model of "micro-major — minor major — minor degree" to foster interdisciplinary talents. The number of applicants for minor programs in 2024 increased by 87% compared with the previous year.

    VI. Historic Breakthroughs in Disciplinary Competitions

    Won 2 national gold medals, 5 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals in the China International College Students' Innovation Competition. It secured the gold medal for the first time in the "Youth Red Dream Journey" track and ranked first in the group. The total number of national awards, national gold medals, and silver medals ranked first in Guangxi.

    VII. Innovative Practices in Labor Education

    Approximately 3,000 public welfare labor positions were set up across 26 functional departments of the university, allowing students to independently choose positions for labor practice.

    VIII. Enhanced Teachers' Teaching Development Capabilities

    Won 5 national awards in teachers' teaching competitions, an increase of 3 compared with the previous year. Approved 59 autonomous region-level undergraduate teaching reform projects, including 11 key projects (an increase of 4 from the previous year), and 10 autonomous region-level "Four New" (new engineering, new medical sciences, new agricultural sciences, new liberal arts) research and practice projects — ranking first among universities in Guangxi in terms of project approvals. Recognized 14 autonomous region-level grassroots teaching organizations.

    IX. Improved Student Enrollment Quality

    The minimum admission rank corresponding to the physical science major group in Guangxi moved up by 1,376 places year-on-year, and the minimum admission rank for the history major group moved up by 1,074 places year-on-year, both ranking first in Guangxi. The number of supplementary enrollment applications reached the lowest in the past three years.

    X. Steady Advancement of Teaching Informatization

    Built an "undergraduate-postgraduate integration" platform to realize data interconnection between undergraduate and postgraduate academic affairs management systems.

    Standing at a new starting point, the university will plan its work from a higher political perspective, promote development with more practical measures, and implement tasks with stronger sense of responsibility, striving to write a new chapter in the high-quality development of undergraduate education and teaching.
